Moving on

At times I can feel like new years can be so cliche with all the focus in new years resolutions, but my thinking is, if you don’t like something or want to do something better, then just choose to try and change it right then, regardless if what time of year it is. Recently I feel like like I have been dwelling on choices and things I have done in the past that may not have been honoring to God. Then last Sunday one of our pastors preached on Philippians 13:13-14.

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

I think this just proves even more that when you are truly seeking God and His will, He will speak in His perfect timing. For Christmas I received a flip book with quotes by Tony Evans. January 2nd’s quote was

“Sometimes God allows something in your life that only He can fix so that you will get to see Him fix it.”

Paul had some ailment or thorn in his side, yet God told him that His grace was sufficient. I do believe that God causes all things to work for my good because I love Him, but more importantly because He loves me more than I can imagine. It’s just not fun to go through the storms we face, but I know God is with me and waiting for me on the other side with open arms.

Lord Jesus, give me the courage and humility to give over my chains to you that you may remove them from me so that I may press on to the future you have for me. May the words if my mouth and meditations of my heart be pleasing to you, my Rock and my Redeemer.
