God allows us to go through trials. In Job’s case, He allowed things to happen to him and because Job never stopped believing God was good, Job was even more blessed afterwards. Even though God allows trials to happen in our life, 2 Peter 2 tells us He also knows how to rescue us. Lot and Noah were rescued because they were righteous. In Revelation 3 Jesus tells the church of Philadelphia that He will keep that church from the hour of testing, or trial as Peter describes, because they endured while keeping their faith.
Bad things happen to people and people go through some really tough things in life. I don’t know why some things happen to people, only God knows and He doesn’t always have to tell us. I was speaking today with someone and they have a friend who just lost their only child, a 16 month old little girl. I couldn’t imagine going through that and my heart hurt once I heard that.
But I know that God loves us so much that He wants to have a relationship with us. So in His infinite grace and mercy He makes plans for us that are so much better that what we can imagine just so we can have fellowship with Him. 2 Corinthians 9 and Isaiah 64 tells us that no eye has seen, nor hear heard, nor mind conceived the things that God has planned for those who love Him.
So which church are you, the church of Ephesus who has forgotten his first love, the church of Laodicea who is luke warm or the church of Philadelphia who holds fast to God and their faith through all circumstances. I wish I could say I was always part of the church of Philadelphia, but I know at times I may wander or become luke warm. We need God to rule our atmosphere as individuals, families, as a country and as people around the world.
